The Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) conducts Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) for the recruitment of candidates to civil services such as IAS (Indian administration services), IFS (Indian forest services) , IOFS (Indian ordnance factories services), IPS (Indian police services), IRS (Indian revenue services). This is a well known examination in India and a national level examination. CSAT is conducted in three phases : – 1st phase is preliminary test and 2nd is main CSAT examination. Those candidates clears the pre CSAT test is eligible for Main CSAT examination. The third phase is the personal interview. Those candidates clear the 1st and second phase of CSAT examination is eligible for the personal interview conducted by UPSC. The first paper of 1st phase of CSAT examination consists objective type questions related to Indian politics, general sciences, history of India, Indian world geography, current events, economics and social development, general issues related to environmental etc. Second paper on 1st phase consists the questions related to English and mental ability based questions. The total marks for each paper is 200 and time duration is 120 minutes. There is negative marking in this examination. In the second phase of CSAT examination there are nine papers and the last one is the personal interview. The total marks for phase second including the personal interview is 2300 marks. The UPSC has provided all the syllabus on the official website. Candidates who are going to appear in this examination can prepare on the basis of UPSC examination pattern and syllabus. Selection is based on the performance in the phase first and second and in the personal interview.
CSAT ( civil services aptitude test) preliminary test is going to be conducted on 19th May 2013 ( Sunday). After conducting the first phase UPSE will conduct the main examination (CSAT main phase-2) and personal interview for successful candidates of 1st phase.
